Blog 13: Answer One

  1. The appearance of a flat chest is an important form of gender expression for a female-to-male transgender person.
  2. I've done a lot of research and talked to a few guys who are transitioning, all of whom say that the appearance of a female chest is one of the biggest sources of dysphoria during a transition. A lot of transmen opt for a double mastectomy, with liposuction, to get rid of their female chests. For those guys who aren't there yet - mentally or financially - there's binding. Binding is using different materials to keep the breast tissue as flat to the chest as possible, leaving the chest appearing to be that of a male.
